Destination Dubai: Launching the definitive handbook for the emirate
(20 March 2009) The Government of Dubai, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has unveiled the latest edition of its Destination Dubai travel trade manual. A definitive guide to the emirate, ‘Destination Dubai 2009’ is a one-stop shop for information on travel and tourism, trade and events comprising detailed listings of airlines, tour operators, hotels and the myriad attractions for visitors. The guide also includes top tips for travellers and details of foreign embassies and consulates based in the emirate.
The manual tracks Dubai’s impressive transformation into one of the world’s leading destinations for business and leisure visitors, home to some of the world’s most exciting architectural developments and six-star hospitality. With such a diverse offering, Dubai’s appeal to visitors is unsurprising: from spas and shopping, to sports and fine dining, supported by a robust infrastructure and year-round sunshine the emirate is unparalleled on the world stage.
Such is the nature of Dubai’s rapidly expanding portfolio of attractions that the manual is extended each year to accommodate them. The latest edition includes updated information on new developments such as The Palm islands, Al Maktoum International Airport and the impressive Dubai Waterfront development. While the focus is inevitably on Dubai, the guide also offers an insight into attractions in the other six emirates that make up the UAE, ensuring visitors get an overview of the region.
Ian Scott, director of the UK and Ireland representative office of the DTCM, feels that the manual is a huge asset to the effective promotion of the emirate to overseas markets. He comments: “In a crowded marketplace, it is important for Dubai to be in a position to ensure that its excellence is successfully communicated through the travel trade to visitors. The Destination Dubai tourism manual is an essential tool as it efficiently collates information on all aspects of travel to the emirate. Available worldwide, through the 18 DTCM offices and at major travel and tourism exhibitions, the guide has evolved to include even more relevant information for consumers and trade alike. There are also plans to produce Arabic, Italian, German, French and Chinese editions from next year to meet the needs of new markets and further extend Dubai’s global reach.”
